Dunedin's Railroad Station

A couple of weeks ago, we were stopped at the stop light right in front of the railway station, and I had the camera with me, so I snapped a quick photo of the pretty flowers. Then a week later, we had houseguests, and I took them to the RR station to look at the art gallery where Dave's art is shown (it's upstairs behind those windows you can see in the first photo). They lingered over all the cool bits and pieces in the station and noted that every possible kind of artisan in Dunedin must have been employed in the making of the RR station: stained glass window makers, plasterers, ceramic tile makers, tile layers. The RR station opened in 1906, and was designed by George Troup, who got the nickname "Gingerbread George" because of the details on the outside of the building.
