Routeburn-Greenstone Track, Day 1

Dave just got back from a five day "great walk" -- 95 kilometers in five days, change in elevation 733 meters. (For my American readers, that's 59 miles and 2400 feet. 5 metric days = 5 American days. At least one thing is easy.) I'm going to post the best 10 photos for each of the five days.

The Routeburn track starts at the west end of Lake Wakatipu, the other end of the lake from Queenstown. The Greenstone track ends where the Greenstone River dumps into Lake Wakatipu, still near the end of the lake, but on the other side of the lake from Queenstown.

Here are some of the highlights of day one.
