Normandy: Honfleur
We had heard of Honfleur because it is mentioned in the titles of some impressionist paintings, so when we were casting about for a small town to visit on our way to the Normandy D Day beaches, we chose Honfleur. What a great choice, a charming town with beautiful old buildings and a lovely harbor. Honfleur is located at the mouth of the Seine River, on the west side. On the other side of the mouth of the Seine is Le Havre, linked to Honfleur with a beautiful suspension bridge that we never did get a good photograph of.
